Temperature sensors include a variety of devices: thermistors, thermocouples, resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), and various silicon-based temperature sensors. Each type of temperature sensor has different signal conditioning requirements for converting sensor output to an accurate temperature reading. For an introduction to thermal management devices and the ways in which they may be used, refer to Maxim's Thermal Handbook.
Maxim provides temperature sensor interface ICs for many sensor types, including RTDs and thermocouples.
