Applications/Uses

Description

MAXGTXREFDES is a power-supply module for the Xilinx® Vitrex®-6 FPGA ML623 Characterization Kit. The module uses 25A MAX8686 power regulators with internal MOSFETs to supply all the rails of the 6.6Gbps GTX transceivers on the Virtex-6 XC6VLX240T-2FFG1156C FPGA. The power-supply module has been tested in hardware and shown to have the lowest noise when compared to competitor power-supply modules. Inefficient LDO power supplies can be replaced with this reference design.

The MAXGTXREFDES board complies with Xilinx power-supply module specifications and can be plugged directly into the ML623 board to power it. Refer to MAX8686 product pages for more information on the features and simulation models.
