Battery Chargers

Maxim provides a variety of battery charger IC products for charging 1- to 4-cell lithium-ion battery packs as well as NiCd, NiMH, lead-acid, and other battery chemistries. Our battery charger ICs offer features that enable a wide range of design options, such as:

  • Current-mode control architectures to achieve well controlled, highly accurate, and efficient battery charging
  • Accurate and robust design to ensure safe battery charging solutions
  • High switching frequency to enable the use of small components, which reduce the PCB area
  • Power path selectors, which employ a dedicated charge pump, to permit the use of low-cost n-channel MOSFETs
  • I²C/SMBus solutions to enable telemetry for adaptor current, charge voltage, and current measurements
  • Analog control inputs to enable simple, low-cost battery charging solutions
