Maxim offers two families of multiprotocol transceivers. Dual-protocol devices offer the convenience of communicating in RS-232 or RS-485 with a single chip. Multiprotocol chipsets support 11 protocols: RS-232, RS-449, RS-485, RS-530, RS-530A, V.10, V.11, V.28, V.35, V.36, and X.21.
