Reliable RS-485/RS-422 transceivers are targeted for industrial control, instrumentation, lighting systems, and PROFIBUS applications. Our RS-485 transceivers are available in both industry-standard packages and small spacing-saving packages. These products exceed high-ESD and fault protection to increase robustness and time in the field, with fast data rates (> 10Mbps) to service a majority of applications.
We were the first in the industry to integrate a charge pump and inverter for single-supply operation, simplifying power-supply requirements. ESD-protected RS-232 transceivers not only save board space by integrating protection circuitry but can control transmitter short circuits with current limiting. In addition, RS-232 transceivers protect both the transmitter and receiver up to ±70V, without adversely affecting the transceiver IC. AutoShutdown Plus™ technology helps achieve low shutdown currents for power-saving applications.
A controller area network (CAN) is a two-wire, half-duplex, high-speed serial network typically used to provide communications between network nodes without loading down the system microcontroller. CAN transceivers interface between the CAN protocol controller and the physical wires of the CAN bus lines in industrial, communications, and instrumentation applications.
CAN transceivers offer a number of robust features to improve the long-term reliability of end equipment. We offer the highest fault-protected CANH/CANL data lines in the industry to help withstand accidental shorts to local power supplies. Integrated high-ESD circuitry provides protection from inadvertent strikes, allowing communication between nodes in electrically harsh environments. The isolated CAN transceivers family also provides high withstand voltage, high fault protection, and high ESD in industry-standard packages.
Beyond-the-Rails (BTR) switch/mux devices use standard 3V to 5.5V supplies but allow a wide range of ±25V input signals above- and below-the-rails. Designers no longer need multiple switches/muxes to switch both high- and low-voltage signals. Beyond-the-Rail technology helps simplify power-supply requirements and system design. Flexible and robust, our muxes and switches are ideal for general-purpose system signal routing and industrial analog front-ends. Specific applications include point-of-sale (POS) connector sharing, industrial analog inputs, handheld instrumentation, ATE, and audio/data switching.
