How to Measure Biopotential ECG Using a Chest Strap

By: John DiCristina

Abstract: This tutorial examines key design considerations for reliable biopotential ECG measurement in wearable ECG chest-strap applications such as fitness heart-rate sensors. Topics include chest-strap electrode selection, rejection of ECG motion artifacts, and how to maintain a low-power profile. The benefits of a fully integrated biopotential sensor solution are reviewed and examples of available design and development resources are provided.
