HFAN-04.0.3: Jitter in Digital Communication Systems, Part 1

Abstract: In digital communications, binary encoded information (a sequence of 1's and 0's) is sent from a transmitterto one or more receivers. The transmission medium between the transmitter and receiver (the channel) maybe copper cable, fiber optics, free space, etc. Major design goals of most digital communicationsystems include maximizing bandwidth efficiency and minimizing bit error ratio (BER).
