Improving the Cost of Solar Energy: Part I, Cell-String Optimization
Abstract:This two part series on solar technology will look at the evolution of solar DC optimization technology from an early “bolt-on” a module into the module fabric that provides power regulation at the solar cell. The first installment, this Part I article, looks closely at the product advancement and effects on photovoltaic (PV) system design, module performance, and reliability. The next Part II article is a case-study of the financial benefits from incorporating cell-string optimization into a large-scale PV project. The second article will detail the design process with standard modeling tools.
