Generate Modulation Current LUTs for PHY2078 Based Optical Modules at Single Temperature
Abstract:In a modern GEPON/GPON system, it is not cost-effective to set up the laser modulation-current lookup table (LUT) over multiple temperature points in the optical network unit (ONU) module. It is preferable to calibrate the laser and driver at a single temperature to reduce cost and improve manufacturing efficiency. Using the Phyworks PHY2078, a combined burst-mode laser driver and limiting amplifier for use within fiber optic modules, this application note proposes a method to calculate the LUT at a single temperature. The LUT is calculated using temperature-slope efficiency data.
