Industrial Digital IO Design Guide


Abstract: Smart industrial automation (also known as Industry 4.0) has resulted in the mass proliferation of sensors and actuators on the factory floor. Engineers must continuously educate themselves on how to make these sensors smaller, faster, and produce less heat in form factors that keep getting smaller. This design guide presents the latest range of Maxim’s industrial digital IO ICs which include multiple diagnostic features and are robust in the harshest operating environments, enhancing reliability and reducing downtime. Our diverse range of digital IO products combine multiple combinations and permutations of single- and multi-channel DI and DO devices, as well as key supporting products for data isolation and industrial communication interfaces. This guide aims to provide the tools to enable engineers (novice and experienced) to quickly and confidently design, test, and prototype their systems using proven designs and board layouts.
