Updating External Flash from Removable Media on Zatara Platform

By:  Reza Ahmadi

Abstract: The Zatara® point-of-sale (POS) development platform provides a secure environment for POS and secure applications. Maxim provides a signed boot loader application, which can either load large applications into arbitrary RAM memory locations or execute from external flash (XIP) on the Zatara development platform. Maxim also provides the Zatara USB Flash Updater, a signed USB device application that downloads Intel® hex files from a FAT16 USB mass-storage device to the external Flash on Zatara platforms. This application note describes how to update external flash from a hex file on a USB mass-storage device, using the boot loader and USB Flash Updater.
