现代DC-DC开关转换器,包括开关稳压器、开关控制器以及具有多相输出的PMIC,如果能够支持多相操作,则可获得其它优势。

多相转换器由多路电源并联,驱动一个公共负载。每路电源的开关信号彼此错相。例如,一路电源的开关断开,而另一路电源开关则闭合。各路电源以相同的时钟频率连续工作。

多相操作具有诸多性能优势。由于开关周期内吸收的电流平均分配,输出电流和电压纹波有效降低(下降幅度与相数成比例),无需工作在相对较高的频率——后者将导致开关损耗增大。最大瞬态输入电流降低,使电源纹波噪声更低。相对于相同工作频率的单相操作,多相操作具有更高效率、更少元件(BOM)。此外,多相稳压器能够更快速地响应输出负载的变化,具有更好的瞬态响应。

对于设计用于大电流输出的电路,例如10A,优势会更加明显。当然,输出电流较低时,同样具备一定优势,例如要求的输入和输出滤波电容较小。
