MAX1980降压从控制器旨在用于低电压、大电流、多相DC-DC转换器应用。该从控制器可以结合任一款Maxim的Quick-PWM™降压控制器,组成一个多相DC-DC转换器。现有的Quick-PWM控制器,如MAX1718等都可以充当主控制器,提供精确的输出电压调节、快速的瞬态响应和故障保护等功能。MAX1980同步于主控制器的低端栅极驱动,包含了Quick-PWM固定导通时间控制器、同步整流器的栅极驱动器、有源电流均衡控制和精确的限流电路。

与其它Quick-PWM控制器一样,MAX1980具有高效率、超低占空比的工作能力、出色的瞬态响应等特性。MAX1980通过检流电阻,差分地检测主电源和从电源的电感电流。通过这些差分输入和源自外部基准的可调电流限制门限,使得从控制器准确地平衡电感电流,提供精确的限流保护。MAX1980的两用限流输入还可使主控制器关断后,从控制器自动进入低功耗待机模式。

MAX1980具有驱动器禁止模式,强制两个栅极驱动器(DL和DH)置低。当MAX1980的驱动禁止时,主控制器可以工作于低功耗跳频模式,以提高轻负载效率。另外,MAX1980具有可选的触发极性,允许从控制器在主控制器的低端栅极驱动的上升沿或下降沿触发。错相工作模式错开了主/从控制器的导通时间,从而减小了输入电流纹波和相关的输入电容数目。MAX1980还具有200kHz/300kHz/550kHz可选的开关频率,提供紧凑的20引脚5mm x 5mm QFN和薄型QFN封装。
