MAX14500–MAX14503 USB至SD™读卡器为带有一个或两个SD卡槽且支持全速USB通信(12Mbps)的便携式设备提供了一种升级方法,可以将USB SD读卡器升级到USB高速(480Mbps)工作模式。MAX14500–MAX14503具有两种工作模式:直通和读卡器。直通模式下,SD和USB信号不作任何改动直接通过MAX14500–MAX14503,器件处于完全透明状态。从主机微处理器角度看没有任何变动,因此主机微处理器的固件无需进行任何修改。在读卡器模式下,MAX14500–MAX14503作为一个高速USB读卡器独立工作,与主机微处理器无关。器件保留了全速USB端口和SD卡槽的全部功能,增加了支持PC以更快速的方式读写SD卡的特性。MAX14500–MAX14503支持SD大容量SDHC卡。40引脚的TQFN版本支持单个SD卡,而56焊球的WLP版本则支持两路SD卡。

MAX14500–MAX14503具有先进的省电模式,可降低便携式应用的功耗。低功耗休眠模式禁止内部电路模块,实现省电的工作模式。每个型号的默认时钟输入在定购信息中给出。MAX14500–MAX14503可以通过I²C接口修改默认值。

MAX14500采用5mm x 5mm、40引脚TQFN封装。该器件工作在宽电源电压范围,规定工作在-40°C至+85°C扩展级温度范围。
