Our design center in Florida is located in an office suite in the city of Melbourne, 60 miles east of Orlando and Disneyworld. Originally opened in 2000, our site has ample office space, a test lab, and test floor for our team of five engineers. We focus primarily on signal processing, conversion, and timing. Some of us are test development or solutions engineers, one is a layout designer, and we have the strategic marketing manager for medical equipment. We also collaborate closely on new design solutions with our design centers in Hillsboro, Oregon and Dallas, Texas.While Melbourne is a relatively small suburban area, it is known for its military, space, and technology specialties so we are surrounded by the energy and pulse of many advanced technologies. We all enjoy working the family-friendly area, warm weather, and great beaches that earn the city the reputation as the surf capital of Florida. "We get a lot of work done because we're not caught up in the many meeting cycles, like other offices," our marketing manager explains. Quite proud of our team, he claims that the tech engineers working here are "the best in the industry." Yes, and we're also an integral part of the "One Maxim" team.

Our design center in Austin consists of approximately 40 employees who are mainly engineers, though we have some information technology (IT) and manufacturing colleagues here too. Our site focuses on a number of functions like engineering design, applications, product definition, and business management. Our team represents two different product lines: communications with power, digital, and audio devices; and power-management solutions.
We recently moved to our new building in the Texas Hill Country, just south of the famous Pennybacker Bridge and only 20 minutes from our Austin sales office. Our new office was purposely built for Maxim and has a shared and open environment highlighted by high ceilings and natural sunlight. The office architects were careful not to block anyone's view of the outside and stationed all our conference rooms and management offices in the interior of the building. Our office walls have ceiling-to-floor windows that overlook the Texas hill country and offer a spectacular view of the sunset. This new space is "functional, bright, energetic, and people actually enjoy coming to work," explains our site's executive director. He says that the new design was meant to encourage a communal atmosphere, which they were very successful in accomplishing.
Our office hours fluctuate depending on correspondence between time zones. We typically work between 7:00 am and 8:30 pm because we interface with headquarters in San Jose, California and other offices and customers on the east coast.We can travel a short distance off campus for a variety of lunch and afterwork dining options, including several appealing choices at the nearby shopping center. Our office is also only 10 miles from downtown Austin, which offers endless entertainment possibilities as the live music capital of the country. Several of us gather for the many local concerts offered as part of events like Blues on the Green. The seemingly infinite music venues scattered throughout the city ensure that no one gets bored around here.

Our sales office in Austin is just 20 miles from downtown, located near the suburban areas of Round Rock and Cedar Park. There are currently 20 team members here. Most of us are in sales, but some specialize in finance, quality assurance (QA), and marketing."We are an extremely close-knit group, and our office has a very fun, positive atmosphere," says one of our employees. She explains that "many coworkers participate in and help arrange volunteer opportunities in our community, like Meals on Wheels®." Our employees have also participated in a Habitat for Humanity® Build day, with as much as 85% of the office attending.

Our location in Dallas is one of Maxim's oldest sites, and unique in many ways. We are a multifunctioning operation with a cleanroom facility and office space for administration and IC design.
Most of our 800 employees work typical daytime office hours, but manufacturing positions have compressed shifts and operate 24/7. Ours is the only Maxim site with a wafer-level packaging, or "bump," fab. Staff here have a wide range of technical and administrative responsibilities. Many of our engineers focus on microcontrollers, precision monitoring and control, and secure information and authentication. But that's not the limit of our expertise. Several of our engineers work on other products that bridge our local expertise with colleagues in design centers around the world. The circuits that we design go into everything electronic: medical, automotive, computing, consumer, and communications products.
With so much engineering and management responsibilities here, we are always looking for new creative talent. That is one reason why we really appreciate the regional universities and community colleges that offer business and associate degree programs and technical certificates. We have a close, collaborative relationship with the University of Texas Dallas, the University of Texas Arlington, and Southern Methodist University which all have engineering programs and advanced degree options.

We organize Maxim-sponsored groups for running, biking, and triathlon events. We are very proud of our several community volunteer activities. Our building is also LEED-Silver Compliant, which means that we incorporate the use of sustainable features such as a centralized chilled and hot-water system for heating and cooling to reduce energy consumption.

We opened our San Antonio wafer fab in 2003 and now we occupy an impressive 100 acres. Our facility is one of our ISO 14001-registered sites, which means that our fab complies with U.S. governmental standards for environmental management to minimize negative processing and manufacturing effects on the environment. Operating 24/7 and with 540 employees, we aim for continuous improvement in the quality, cost, and yield of our products.
Our fab processes 8-inch silicon wafers to fabricate analog and mixed-signal microchips for various customers in several markets, including high-end smartphones, consumer tablets, computing, industrial, and communications end products. We are going through another expansion, adding about 20,000 square feet to our current 380,000 square-foot facilities. We are bringing up a new process area and will be hiring electromechanical equipment technicians, specialists, and engineers over the next year to support this new process.We are proud of our award-winning facility that has been recognized by the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for our environmental accomplishments. We received the SAWS Inaugural Refreshing Ideas Award for Water Conservation in 2010, as well as the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Environmental Excellence Awards. Our facility has been recognized for our recycling initiatives, as well as other "eco-savings" that have allowed us to substantially increase the kilowatt-hours of electricity saved each year. Our team here has also been very active in community programs that allow us to "Make a Difference."
