MAXIM'S µP SUPERVISORS WITH CAPACITOR-ADJUSTABLE RESET AND WATCHDOG TIMEOUTS MAXIMIZE DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Note to Editor: The MAX6746/MAX6747 are low-power (1.5µA) µP supervisors with capacitor-adjustable reset and watchdog timeouts. Other features include a watchdog select input to minimize capacitor size and a manual reset input.
SUNNYVALE, CA-September 16, 2002-Maxim Integrated (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6746/MAX6747 microprocessor (µP) supervisory circuits. These devices offer tremendous design flexibility by featuring capacitor-adjustable power-on reset (POR) and watchdog timeouts.
Whenever the monitored voltage falls below its respective reset threshold or manual reset is asserted, the reset output asserts and stays asserted for a minimum reset timeout period after the monitored voltage exceeds its respective threshold and manual reset is deasserted. The reset timeout can be adjusted with an external capacitor to meet all processor timing requirements. There are 35 factory-trimmed reset thresholds from 1.575V to 5V in approximately 100mV increments.
These devices feature a watchdog input for monitoring code execution. The watchdog timeout period can be adjusted with an external capacitor to meet all system requirements. A watchdog select input allows the timeout to be extended to 128x the normally set watchdog timeout, which minimizes capacitor size when a long watchdog timeout is desired.
These devices are offered with an active-low, push-pull reset output (MAX6746) or an active-low, open-drain reset output (MAX6747).
Available in an 8-pin SOT23 package, the MAX6746/MAX6747 are fully specified from -40° C to +125° C. Prices start at $1.20 (2500 or 10,000 minimum, FOB USA).
